Big question. Anandtech has FAQs on Mp3s, which are easy enough.

Ripping DVD's is a pretty big deal, and you should probably wait until you master the mp3 before undertaking it.

Thanks , I think I got the MP3 part down, but I am having problems with the naming. I am using MP3 Namer and finding the names over the internet..it load them up properly but when I go look at the files it has the Windows Media player logo by each file and only lists the songs name and says 'unknown artist' and 'unknown title' . What am I doing wrong?

Could someone at least recommend some good naming software titles? I am using EAC and Lame for ripping.

You can use EAC to name the files. Have it get the info from freecddb and fill in the blanks for naming the files. It's pretty simple.
