Is it possible to use a car amplifier as a home one? Is there some kinda converter/inverter?

get a 50 amp home power supply

it should plug into the wall

then the amplifier will have the DC power(amps/voltage) it needs coming off of that

50AMP might be a little much. I have run my 100watt Car amp off a 10AMP Redundate PS for over 6 months... :)

One thing you have to watch is the level of the line-in. Car amps are more sensitive to incoming signals and you might get more hiss than you care to have.

You can get 12v DC Redundant PS's at Radio Shack.

depending on your amplifier, 50 amps could be too little

My car amp is rated at 60amps with two 30amp fuses

edit: look in Sears for a BIG power supply

or you could bring in a car battery and charge it every night
