How to control what programs startup during boot sequence?

Hello everyone!

Can somebody please tell me where I can go and manually control what software commands are enacted upon while Windows 2000 pro is booting up?

Basically, there's a program that loads everytime I turn my computer on, and I never use it. I'd like it to stop doing so. The program itself does not have an option to disable it from being loaded during startup.

I've tried going through <Start Button-Programs-Startup> and it's not there for me to delete. I've also checked all user profiles to check the separate "Startup" directories, and I've also tried going through the taskbar properties and the explorer which you get access to after clicking on "Advanced" on the Advanced tab.

Is there some registry or some file in the Windows or System directory that acts as a list of programs which are to be loaded when one boots their system?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
