???

Leaving the window open is cold, and spraying the room down with bleach is annoying and temporary.

Is there something else I can spray on the walls?

There is no exhaust fan, and it the landlord painted it with flat white latex paint.

there's no exhaust? there's only so much you can do with something like this. ;)

keeping the door/window open when not in use is the only thing i can think of that's easy to do.

you can try putting a fan at the door facing outwards to channel the moisture out of the bathroom.

I know a few college students who practically do that already. I'll have to ask them what their showers look like.

Spray the walls with WD-40. That will keep water from adhering, and the hallucinations from the fumes will make you see great color patterns in place of the blank walls.

As far as the walls and ceilings go, you can always paint them with some kind of mildewicide paint to help prevent the stuff from forming. As far as the tub and tiles, you could always spray down the tub with something like Lysol after using it.

Chlorine Dioxide FTW. concentrations of a few parts per million will zap your mold but not bleach it out. They sell little dioxide generators at marine stores for closing up your boat for storage.

I don't think its really toxic unless its a tight area. Bathroom use is not on the label. Moisture starts the reaction and sodium is the result of the gas breaking down. Cool stuff.

edit, dont confuse the generators with ones that have fomaldahide in them. Something like These things

They make these bucket things that have a sand-type material that absorb moisture. You'd probably have to buy new ones frequently in the bathroom though. What about a dehumidifier?

It's not the shower.

It's the entire bathroom. Infact, the shower is fine except the ceiling above it.

Tilex and the occasional scrub works for me. Don't have any mildew at all.

Try a 5% vinegar solution in water- even the slightest concentration of acid is lethal to mold.

In fact, if you have leftover cheese- you know, the kind without any natural mold on it- cover some paper towel or cheescloth over it that has been slightly wetted with vinegar.
You'll see hardly any mold growth and it'll stay fresh longer.

Hmm.. cool. I may just have to try that. The cheese thing that is. :)

I'll try vinegar instead of bleach I guess. Bleach is annoying.. I can only do one wall at a time before the fumes become overwhelming and I have to leave for a while.

Create a religion requiring belief with threat of eternal damnation if they don't convert.
