how to consolidate "my pix" folders?

i would like to be able to "move" my "my pictures" folder to the desktop and also move my wife's so that we have 1 my pix folder shared between us. With downloading digital pix from the camera we are finding pix repeated as the software just compares what we have i our own folders vs what is on the cf card.

i tried to move mine and then hers to the same place but hers was set as a subfolder within mine "wifey pix" within "riz pix" and i am not sure how to amalgamate the 2....
 
Rename them to the same name, then put them both onto the desktop. It'll ask you if you want to overwrite files with the same name, just hit no, now you've got all your pics in one folder.
 
You might want to rename all of his & her files befor moving them to the same directory. Try DOS command below for renaming the files after you change to the apropriate directory.

ren * ?????his.*
 
thanks i just sorted it.

i renamed both folders "pix" and moved them to the "all users desktop" on the data partition, then set a shotcut; funny how much duplication there was - i got a 3.3 gb folder down to 1.2gb!!!!
