How to connect VGA port with this Monitor

[msi or epox]

I have a laptop that has a vga port, not a dvi port, and I want to connect it to this samsungthis samsung

the samsung has these specs
Connectivity
Input Video Compatibility Analog RGB, Digital
Connectors D-Sub, DVI-D
D-Sub 1
DVI 1
HDMI No

Would I be able to connect my laptop to it? and if so what cable would i need?

Since that monitor has a VGA port as well as DVI, yes you can use it with your laptop. It also comes with a VGA cable so no extra cables are necessary.

ah... thanks for the noob help. still with my old trinitron so lcd's will bring me out of the stone age. Anyone have any links to good discussions comparing vga and dvi?

VGA uses analog signal, DVI uses digital signal. If you are used to VGA, you won't notice a difference. Compare DVI and VGA side by side with a 24" LCD, you can tell the difference.
