Hello,

I bought an Antec LANBOY case for a computer that I am building for a friend and I am wondering how to connect those tiny *separate* USB connectors. Usually, when you get an USB add-on bracket, you don't have to ask yourself how to connect it to the motherboard because it is a single block of plastic with all ten pins. But now, with new cases (those with integrated USB ports) have all the connectors separated. So, instead of having 1 single plug, I have 10 (5 per USB port) tiny connectors. I just want to know how to plug them to the motherboard. I don't understand how companies can be so stoopid to include this type of connector. A link to a site that shows it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Left to right, red, white, green, black, black. There may be only one black on one side. Red is pin 1 always. Pin 1 is to the left down, usually. Consult the mainboard documentation if its not apparent.

what mobo? read the manual? find the manual online?

they are a pain to put in when you have the mobo already in the case and all the cards in. i did it yesterday for front audio ports and firewire. i had to use tweezers to fit into the spaces allotted.

Antec clearly marks each little connecter. Find your mobo manual (RTFM!!) and it should list which post is for what. Match them up and plug them it.

I will admit it is rather tedious, but Antec did it that way for maximum compatibility.

Yes, it can be confusing.

Apparently there is not a definitive standard so some makers leave the connectors single.

This diagragm may be helpful.
New USB2 cables however do have a fifth connector and accompanying pin for "shielding".
