How to connect my old Socket A fan to the Power Supply DIRECTLY?

ndee

Lifer
Hey there,
I've got an old Socket A cooler (well I just want to use the fan). I want to put it on the rear of my Case, there are also holes for the screw the fan on, but my problem is, both Fan connector used for my graphic card cooler, and the CPU cooler. So how can I connect the fan DIRECTLY to the PSU?

Thanx Ananders

I think you will get 7 volts if you connect the positive wire for the fan to the yellow wire and the ground wire of the fan to the red wire of a typical 4 wire power connector. Try it and see if the fan seems to be running at the correct speed.

i assume that's the 3 pin connector? well, if there is no extra 3pin power connector on the mobo, you should be able to find some converter to convert the "large" drive power plug to the 3pin connectors. I saw them in some local computer stores.
