How to configure import settings for SD card insertion?

So I just want to be able to insert my SD card and have the computer relatively automatically copy all of the photos off of the card onto the hard drive. How do I do this? Dropbox currently pops up, and I don't want to use Dropbox. The other thing that pops up is iPhoto, but iPhoto hides the actual photos in a library making it annoying to back up or import into Lightroom.

What are my other options?
