Ok, I have a large shipment of goods coming to me from China. I got a call yesterday from the shipping company, based in NY, telling me that I had to clear customs before they could release it to me. They told me I should contact my broker and have them do it. Well this is my first Int'l thing, so I don't have a customs broker. The person I talked to suggested a broker to me that is in my area.
What I would like to know is, is it possible for me to take care of the customs stuff myself, without paying a broker? What is involved in this? I would rather not have to pay somebody else, and then pay customs fees on top of that. Anything you can tell me would help a lot. Thanks in advance!
