Just boot off the 98 cd (make sure you change the first boot device to the CD drive in the BIOS). It should give you the option of formatting the drive before installing.

As I recall, I don't think the 98 CD was bootable. You may need to use the Emergency Start Up disk you SHOULD have created when you first installed 98. It gives you CD ROM support that you can use after formatting your drive for a clean install.

Hmm. I assumed since it was fairly recent, it was bootable. My mistake. If it isn't, then the emergency disk is the way to go.

Both Win98 and 98se CDs are bootable. But as stated before...if you don't know how to get into your bios to set the system up to boot off CD (as many systems that are not OEM are not configured to do this) then just use the startup disk or create a new one fromt he add/remove programs window under the startup disk tab. Good luck.

Neither my Win98 nor my 98SE CD is bootable. Although, my W2K and XP CDs are. I have all originals, no burned copies. And my ME CD isn't either.
