omg, that stuff is strong, one spray and all the dirty oil is lifted off, and one swipe with a shop towel and it's all clean. this seems too good to be true, but is it okay to use Brake Cleaner to get rid of dirty motor oil on concrete floor? Other than inhaling the fumes, there are no other ill side effects right?

I use brake clean on the garage floor. I use it on small spots. I wipe up the excess and hit what's left with brake clean. Works like a charm.

If you think brake clean works good on floor mats, try lacquer thinner. I had a friend who swore by the stuff. I gave it a try and was amazed how well it worked.

Edit: Misread your post and thought you were talking both about floor mats and your garage floor. I'll leave it because laquer thinner works so well.

I use brake cleaner too. For the spots I miss I found some kind of degreaser at Autozone called Purple Power that works really well too. Actually I had some jugs of old oil burst before I could get them recycled and it was a monster mess. The purple power worked great.

Brake cleaner or Carb works pretty well for quick clean-ups. If you plan on coating your floors later you should make a paste with Tide Powered Detergent and let it sit on it for a few hours before hitting it with a pressure washer.
