I just use a slightly damp cloth. If you meant Windex though, that's not a good idea as it will wipe off any coatings on the panel.

damp lint free cloth and water. Highly filtered water if it can be.

Do not use a paper towel unless you want scratch marks all over your nice LCD. I use a high quality micro fiber cloth and plain water. You can also look into buying an LCD cleaning kit, such as those sold at BestBuy or Staples.

A switchblade, doused with alcohol, lit, and moved up and down and across the screen in a serpentine fashion.

Now if you wish to clean just one liquid crystal diode then it's a whole different story.

I use paper towel and alcohol. No scratch :) Guess the brand matters :p

OT: Shouldn't it be 'an' LCD instead of 'a' LCD

Damp (distilled water if possible) lint-free cloth.

Yes, if the first part of the next word sounds like a vowel ("ell"), you use an.

ViewSonic reccomends water and clean cloth for their VX2025 LCDs. I know I got one and read the manual. I reccomend you read the manual to see what the manufacturer reccomends for your LCD. If you dont have a manual you can probably find it on the manufacturers website.

I used to use a damp paper towel, but that just didn't cut it once I got my NEC 20WMGX2 because of the glossy coating. Now I just use a microfiber cloth.
