How to choose my DVD player?

For the popular Apex 1500 DVD player, it doesn't have the component video output and DTS-Dolby decoding. I wonder if these two features would make much difference on a normal TV(not HDTV).
If not, I would certainly go for the cheap Apex 1500, if yes, could someone recommend a good dvd player with reasonable price?
