Hi, I searched for these terms but found nothing... I'm interested in childproofing kidproofing or babyproofing the tangle of wires, especially my long ethernet cables that may be choking hazard. Is there a preferred way to do it? I was thinking about taping what I could to the ceiling and using some sort of sleeving for the exposed parts as camouflage/anti-chewing barrier, but what about the surge protector, switch, router, etc.? Have you guys found a solution that worked for you? I'd love to hear it, thanks!

You have the right idea. With kids, out of sight = out of mind, so that's the goal. Otherwise, keep everything out of reach, and away from things like tables w/ chairs or bookshelves that the kids can climb up.

They'll grow out of the stage in a couple year. Especially when they learn that effing with the router will drop their netflix feed!!

You can get plastic conduit at home depot or what not that goes over top of cables and they you can staple it down or whatever. For a lot of it, you are best off with a desk/entertainment center, whatever where all of the cables can just go behind it and the kid/baby can't access it.

The only issue I ever had with any of my kids is both of the youngest just loved standing there and pushing the WPS button on my router. sigh. My 2yr old still does it sometimes. Most of my cables are tucked behind the relevant furniture and my kids don't really play in my small basement office where most of my computer cables are easily exposed under my desk (they play in the main basement though).

If possible with things like home offices, you keep the door closed to keep them out or supervise them if the door is open. Main living spaces, just keep things they can climb on away from TVs, routers and stuff and keep the cables tucked behind stuff.

Oh course parental supervision is good...but who am I kidding, you can't watch the blobs of protoplasm 24x7.

Baby plugs for outlets. BY GODS USE THEM! That includes sticking them in unused power strip outlets unless the power strip is where they can't reach it.
