Hi,

Just a simple n00b question really ... in Windows XP Professional, how can I be sure of the USB version I'm running? Like USB 1.0 or 2.0?

I ask this because some time ago I remember seeing some article with the steps to take to install windows xp pro and getting USB 2.0 ... now how can I make sure USB2.0 is really configured?

Thanks

Yes, but what if I don't remember if I did it in the first place? Isn't there a way to check it out?

I have a P4P800 Deluxe, and I can't find any USB 2.0 drivers on asus site ... and I don't remember quite well how I did it, honestly ... probably did ok, but I'll soon be re-formating, so I want to gather info before making the step ... better safe than sorry.

if you have an enhanced usb controller listed in device manager & are using sp1 or sp2 then you should be good to go!

need to install SP1 prior to installing USB 2.0 drivers

I have a Windows XP Pro with SP2, which I'll install after formating my disk. So I'll start my OS with a fresh new SP2 system.

Would it work with USB 2.0 righ from the start? I ask this because I own an Asus P4P800 Deluxe, and the only USB driver I can check out on asus site are for windows 98/ME/2000 ... anyway I can only install any driver after installing OS, which will startup with SP2.

So will it work straight from the start?

Thank you.
