How to check battery life in a Canon S230?

I can't find the battery indicator and it only appears 5 min before the battery dies. Is there a way to make see how much battery I have left?
 
No I don't think so... not a feature traditionally of the Digital Elph series. I have the S110 (two generations older than your S230), and I don't have a battery level indicator either. It does suck to not have an indicator, but the rest of the camera kind of makes up for it I guess....
