Ok after having my oil changed at the dealer, I decided this time I will do it myself. Well the oil pan drain nut is in there tight. I mean really tight. Like on the verge of stripping tight. Any tips on how to get it out

HA! I got the oil out without taking the nut off. My car probably hates me now though. I just unscrewed the oil filter and turned the car on. Makes a mess because oil sprays everywhere, but I got the sheet out of the car. Filled it up with mobile one and yeah.

Whenever threads like that pop up I always first assume that the person is just joking, and I assume that here too.

I can't help but think this is merely typical of the "manual shifting", "compact sport", import "tuning", boy racers populating the roads, and this board as well.

BTW, here's the answer to numbnut's initial troubles.

he probably didn't even do any damage. 15 seconds idling with no oil pressure, eh.. depends on what oil had in there before i guess.

I totally agree with you, even though that car isn't an import. :)

Are these any good?

The thing about those easy drain valves, as far as I can see it, is you need to remove the valve from time to time if there are any metal shavings in the oil pan, or to replace the gasket if necessary.

Ooh.. Me wants.

As long as it's guarenteed not to leak for like.. ever.

The size of the opening worries me, though. You want your oil to be as warm as you can stand it when you change it, and you want it to gush out as fast as it can... the whole point is to pull as many impurities as you can out of the engine.

But it's still a good idea...

hmm weird, srt-4 -> fumoto valve.

i have a fumoto valve. its great, no mess, no worry with oil change, and you can change the oil when its hot. im not worried at all about pulling metal shavings out, i have an oil filter and I drive a subaru (bobistheoilguy shows subaru's in general to have 0 metal's in oil). I plan on doing an oil analysis at 3k and 6k on my next oil change (i change the oil every 6k, and the filter ever 3k (and add about a qrt)).

edit: btw 15% off coupons pop up occasionally, and i would NOT get the valve with a nipple, it hangs pretty low to the ground.

At least one of them recognizes it. From the thread:

LOL, not really, but the world would be a better place if people like him didn't have nice cars...
You lost me here, he owns an SRT-4

Hilarious!

I've never heard of something so crazy, except maybe the guys that tried to install a nitrous oxide kit that jetted straight into the crankcase. (The nozzle was pointed right at the camshaft. The camshaft became so cold that it cracked in half.)

BTW, look at the the number of guests wiewing that thread, compared to members. When I was looking, it was 8 members, and 292 guests. The dude is internet-famous, and not in a good way.

It's a neon sure, but a very nice one.

That's an oxymoron.
Oh come on, I'd even trade my 97 maxima for it. I wouldn't trade my 00, unless I could sell the neon and use the cash to buy back the 00, then pocket the difference. Actually, I'd sell it and buy back the 97 as well ;0
