Start --> Run --> regedit --> HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> Valve --> Half-Life --> Settings --> Key and modify the cd-key!

I think I know what your trying to do :)

even if you change your key, you will need to delete two other files in the HL directory somewhere. I'm not home so I can't remember which ones. If you don't your new key won't be ah.... reactivated.

I have a legit copy of HL but I am curious now, what 2 files do you have to change and/or get rid of?

First of all, If he does have a legit HL and with the over zealous Banana Admins out there gone Power MAD and spreading keys on master ban list's all over the place just because you fragged his lame ass all over Dust, I don't blame him.

Second it's quite possible that someone can get a second or third legit copy of HL that someone else uninstalled from their computer. and just change the key wich would be legal.

In all fairness asking how to replace or change your key is not equal to asking for a Key string.

I gotta agree with Nic on this. Everyone always assumes people are up to no good when conversation turns to cd-keys. I had the same problem with another game. I owned it, but forgot to bring it to a LAN party I recently went to. I borrowed someone else's copy and used their key to install. When I got home I had to figure out how to change the key.

Just for your information I do have a legit copy that I have played on the internet LEGALLY, but silly me I thought that the whole purpose of a forum was to share information so that we might all come out of this a little bit wiser and more informed. So I think that I have the right to ask a question.

Regarding half-life, counter strike cd keys, e-mail sierra and they will tell you how to do it. In fact they are very courteous and friendly with their e-mails.
