Hello guys.

Could someone please explain to me how to change the ordering of the cables to get 7 volts instead of 12 for my heatsing fan.

I have the wbk 38 and the noise is so loud that I am willing to go back to my no name heatsing & fan.

SOmeone told me that I can change the ordering of the red blacks & yellow cables to get the desired voltage.

Thank you.

(the following is from an older posting by a member in this forum.. see if it rings any bells.)

"..the yellow wire on the molex connector is +12 volts DC, the red is +5 volts DC, and both the black wires are ground (GND)

here is what you do... run your fans at 7volts if you want to tone them down a bit when you are not using them. you may be thinking "How in the heck do i get 7volts!!!". If you hook one of the wires into the 12volt (the yellow) and the other to the 5volt (the red), the difference of the two (12-5=7) will give you your 7volts...

hope this helps .."

You should follow what the other person told you to do. The yellow molex connectors are 12 Volts, red is 5 Volts, and both blacks are the same.

I am not sure whether your WBK38 uses molex connectors or 3-pin wires. If they use 3-pin wires, cut off the ends of the wires (or pick them out with a toothpick) and connect the red wires to the red molex connector and the black to any of the blacks to get the fan running at 5 volts. You can connect your cut wires (or wires with the silver ends if you picked them out) to the molex connectors using electrical tape or whatever means to get the metal parts connected.

If your WBK38 fan runs with molex connectors, just take a toothpick push the ends of your red and yellow wires out (there are little metal protrusions sticking out from the molex connectors that stop them from coming loose) and changing around the red and yellow.

Confused? Just look at the wires and try it for yourself... *remember to turn off your computer when wiring :D

thank for the reply.

let me see if I get this right.

I do have a molex for the WBK38 converter. SO what I should do is change places btwn red and yellow ? Put in yellow the red and in the red the yellow? The blacks stay in the same position?

thanks

and sorry I dull you with all these details but I do not want to harm my power supply nor my heatsink..
