How to change the read speed for my CD-RW drive

I have a Buslink (Aopen) 52x24x52 CD-RW drive from that Staples deal a couple of weeks back. It burns stuff perfectly fine so far, but when I insert a regular CD for reading, it spins so fast and loud like it's gonna shake my case to pieces. I guess it's because it's a 52x read speed (I'm used to my old 8x4x24 drive). Is there a way to set the read speed to something slower and quieter?
