How To Change The Default Windows Font In Windows 10

If you know the right means there are a lot of things that you can do with your Windows 10 PC. One such cool feature is the ability to change the system font for the OS. Here’s a step by step guide to changing the default Windows font in Windows 10.

Step 1
Open Notepad App

Go to the 'Search Bar' in your PC located at the bottom of the screen and type in ‘Notepad’. Then click on the notepad app option from the results that appear.

Step 2
Type in the Code

Copy the following code and paste it into the notepad app:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Fonts]
"Segoe UI (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Bold (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Bold Italic (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Italic (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Light (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Semibold (TrueType)"=""
"Segoe UI Symbol (TrueType)"=""
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes]
"Segoe UI"="DESIRED FONT"

Step 3
Choose the 'Font'

Go to the ‘Format’ tab in the note pad app and select the font option. This will provide you with a separate window where you can choose the default font. Select it and click on the ‘Okay’ button.

Step 4
Save the 'New Font'

Select the last bit of the code that reads 'Desired Font' and change it with the font name you have chosen.

Step 5
Save the 'File'

Now save the notepad file on your desktop with the title 'change default font.reg'.

Step 6
Apply the 'New Font'

Now close the file and open it again by double clicking on it. But instead of opening as a notepad file a dialog box will now appear, choose ‘Yes’. This will be followed by two more dialog boxes, choose ‘Yes’ for both.

Once you have followed all these steps correctly, restart the PC and your chosen font will now appear as the default system font.
