How to change registered name in XP?

I purchased a second hand computer. I need to change the registered name under system properties in Windows XP. I have the licensed software. Can I change the registered name without reinstalling the software? This could be done using regedit on earlier versions of Windows. I'm unable to do the same under XP. Any suggestions?

I don't know if that's what you want, but that's where you change the info you see when you view "My Computer" properties.
