How-to: Change/Install a Motherboard?

Hello.

I am about to change the mobo of my computer. I built this computer with parts I bought from various people. Everything (except the temperature inside) is fine (...feeling great about it....) so I want to avoid any hardware, OS or other problems when I "simply" change the motherboard.

Can someone please give me a few pointers for this job? Thank you.

what operating system are you running? are you going to keep your existing cpu and really JUST swap the mobo?

also, are you putting in the SAME mobo or a different type/brand?

I am using Win98SE. 😱
I am going to put a different mobo with the same CPU in the computer.

Thanks for reading.

ok, here's what you need to do

go into device manager and remove all the hardware listed under "system devices"

this is all the hardware associated with your old mobo

once you swap out the old and install the new mobo, boot up and windows will re-detect all your new mobo hardware. after a few reboots, you'll be right back on track!
