How to Change Dock Settings in Mac OS X

Users can use the dock preferences settings to change the size of the icons in the Dock. Furthermore, the size of icons in the reposition and the folder can also be changes. You can also customize your dock settings by altering the size, magnification value, position on the screen value and set values for the animations. Here is how you can easily change the Dock settings in the Mac OS X system.

Step 1
Select ‘Dock Preferences’

Firstly, you click the apple icon that is found at the top left corner in the menu bar of your Mac OS X screen. From the list of available choices, choose ‘Dock’ option. Now from its sub-options, choose ‘Dock Preferences’ to view dock settings.

Step 2
Select the ‘Size’ of Dock Icons

In the 'Dock Preferences' window, you can choose the 'Size' of the docker icons by moving through the sliding bar of size as shown below.

Step 3
Select ‘Magnification’

To customize and modify the magnification settings of dock icons, you need to enable the checkbox for ‘Magnification’. The level of magnification can be chosen by dragging through the magnification slide bar as shown below.

Select ‘Position on Screen’

You can change the position of docker icons on your Mac OS X screen. In the docker preferences window, enable the checkbox for ‘Position on Screen’ by selecting either left, bottom or right options as shown below.

Select ‘Automatically Hide and Show the Dock’

In the dock preferences window, enable the checkbox for ‘Automatically Hide and Show the Dock’ option to adjust the viewing of dock icons automatically.
