how to change default txt opener? (from notepad to ultraedit)

hoping maybe this will allow me to view a webpages source.

I can only speak for win98:

Double click 'my computer' or open windows explorer. Pick 'VIEW - FOLDER OPTIONS - FILE TYPES' then scroll down to 'text documents' - double click text documents and then double click the 'open' command in the actions box. Browse to your ultraedit .exe to launch it as your default program.
