How to change default resolution setting on Silent Hunter 3

Can someone point me to a link in order to change the default setting of this game to fit my Dell 2005fpw native of 1680x1050? The game default is 1024x768 and it is FIXED in game option, BTW. By far I've Googled it to only zero success rate :disgust: Thx
 
I remember seeing a way to change it; part of the requirement was to d/l a program from Microsoft.

The place to find more information is at the SH3 forums, probably a search for "resolution" will yeild the answer. It was a fairly long thread, if I remember correctly.
