My car is 2003 Acura CL. It's at 30K now. I am trying to get cabin filter changed. (aka dust and pollen filter, not the engine air filter). Local dealer quoted me $120-130 for the service. But the filter sells for like $20 at auto parts store.

Can I do it myself? How to do it? Thanks!

Anyone got a newer Acura CL or TL and has changed the cabin air filter by yourself, anyone?

$130 to change a filter? That seems really high, but maybe the filter is hard to get to. Pick up a Chilton/Haynes manual and it should tell you how to do it. If you can find a factory service manual those are much better, but more expensive.

My 2000 Taurus has a cabin air filter which is located underneath the cowling under the windshield on the passanger side of the car. I have to take the cowling off and undo some bolts to get at it.

cabin filters for 29 dollars or something :), install it yourself.

it's real easy...you have to take out your glove compartment and it's behind there. for the first time, u have to break the plastic barrier hiding the filters, afterwards, you take the two screws, and screw it back on with the plastic table turned 90 degrees. all done.

yeah don't pay the stealership more than a penny to do it. It's probably in the glovebox.

folks, I just replaced the cabin air filters by myself. Cost: 17.88+ tax for the pair of filters (from Advance auto parts). It took me an hour because I basically had no intruction other than knowing that the filters are behind the glove box. But it's actually a 5-10 min job once you've done it before. My neighbor saw me doing it and was like "why don't you send it to the dealer". Yeah, right, pay $130 for a 5 min job.

Btw, the old filters are filthy. I'll replace them every 20K miles in the future. If you have a 2003 CL and would like to do it yourself, I posted my intruction on acura-cl.com under thread "cabin filter replacement'.
