Hi everyone, I know it ain't the best place to ask but I hope some of you readers are webmasters yourselves and might know the answer.

I have an gaming website that recently started ranking pretty good on the search engines. The problem is how to turn these visits into cash. The popup ads and normal ads ain't doing the thing.

Thanks

Welcome to Anandtech. :)

I would definitely suggest doing the above-getting commission on link-thru's. If its a challenge to get people to click on the links, auto-link your website so when content is added to the site-by you or the users-that contains the name of a store/company/game, it will automatically link it with a referral ID. Give us the name of the site so we can be a lil' more specific.

The visitors come from the search engine directly to the cheat code (we're a cheats site), they look at the code, maybe print it and close the window. This basicly rules out any chances of making money from commission. We once tried the Gamestop affiliation programme and out of 1 million gamestop links showed to the visitors we only made 10$.
Currently we're thinking of showing ppl advertising before they can see the cheat.

i dont think that will work. When people(me) see that, we just go to another site with no ads. You need something to seperate you from the crowd. Try to think of a gimick to attract people. Setup a paypal donation fund. Hold contests to draw more people.

Hmmm...before you get the more complicated advertisers in order, bulkclicks might be alright...

the Paypal donation fund doesnt work for us, we had a "donate" button up for months and we didn't get a dime. When the visitors come straight from a search engine to the cheat they really dont care about anything else but the cheat.
Holding contests and stuff may increase the loyal user group a little but probably wont get us the money back through paypal.
