how to care for a zippo lighter?

I do not smoke, but I'm sick of guys coming up to me asking for a light when I don't have a lighter. So, I purchased an used zippo from ebay.

well, the thingy that you use the thumb on is slightly rusted and the flint is worn, the "wick" is rusted looking too... is there anyway to restore this to usable condition?

You bought a used Zippo? How much did you spend? I imagine after shipping, you paid more than you would have for a new one locally.

You'll need to replace the flint and fill the fluid occasionally; the wick should last you a good bit of time.

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to buy one of those inexpensive disposable ones?

Meh, I saw people doing cool tricks with it, so I wanted one too. It supposely will last forever. And it's made in the USA.
