One thing you should know is Nero takes a limited range of MPEG file formats for VCD and super VCD. If your source file does not meet Nero's specifactions you will be asked to re-incode the file using a $15 plugin from Nero or write the file to disk as is which usually renders the finished disk unplayable on most DVD players. To save time, try to capture the video file in the size format that Nero wants as re-incoding video takes a long time. Nero's largest VCD MPEG file format has rather crappy image quality that may be caused by the substandard Nero encoder as other VCD producing programs VCD's look alot better with the same movie length.
One of these programs for producing VCD's is called Win DVD from Intervideo Productions. You can use a much wider MPEG format selection which results in better video quality at the expense movie length. If your capture card does not capture in the correct format, it's encoder is very fast and produces high quality compressed files.
