I have installed the most recent Nero 2019 and find that it will not accept .flac files for burning . On line search shows unresolved complaints but not that many.Unfortunately there is no tech support. I fugure there must be a simple solution as previous versions have burned .flacs readily. Are there any suggestions ?

I save my FLAC files (for storage) using using CDBurnerXP, a free software that is a lot more inclusive and up-to-date than it's name would imply. I gave up using Nero more than a decade ago when the version I was using then truncated the FLAC extension to FLA.

If you are talking about burning FLAC files directly to an audio CD, I don't do that but a quick google search turned up several names of software. In addition here is an article on how to do that:

Well, the previous version of Nero burned flacs but not this version. I submitted a complaint and when asked, provided windows data files and a flac sample and have heard nothing since. Nero therefore asserts it will burn this file type or would have said otherwise. Indeed the error message recites the list of supported file types and it includes flac.
That tutorial using winamp is circuitous. My plan B is to convert the flac to mp3 and add the song to the compilation that way. Thx for your input.

Converting FLAC to MP3 is a grievous sin to audiophiles.

The article I linked contains info on how to do it in Nero-and mentions downloading the free Nero Mega Plugin Pack if you are having problems. Did you try that?

Also the very first comment mentions a free program - Burnatonce - which is supposed to do it.

The mega pack can't help as it installs the plugins to a folder not occupied by Nero elements and so has no effect on the properties of a compilation.

I am aware of how I offend the Lords of Audiophelia by suggesting the transition to the hated mp3 format. I will self punish , perhaps soon.

Tech support has replied that it sent the issue to the developer. I should live so long.

Now here is the oddity. I have several backup drives, just for situations like this. I manually install apps to each one . I install to the C drive, then to D and E drives separately. Well it turns out that Nero on D and E drives DO burn flacs ! Eh ?

Last but not least, is the ominous fact that the song that started this madness, that won't bun on C but will everywhere else, is " 21st Century Schizoid Man ".
NO.

Good luck. You are reaffirming my hatred of all things Nero even though I haven't gone near it in a decade or more. I do urge you experiment with one or more of the freebie burning programs-IMO they are as good if not better than the commercial ones. Those audiophiles that have stuck with commercial programs tend to go to Roxio Creator-which will do perfect bit for bit rips as well but is far easily to set up than the free EAC (Exact Audio Copy).

Merci beaucoup mon ami. I have survived.Long live my back ups. I just cloned the D drive to C and voila, C burns.
I've stuck with Nero all these years ( didn't I see you at Woodstock ?) because I know it. Better the devil one knows than the evil one doesn't.
