i have a win2k cd that's bootable. however it's scratched up pretty badly, and i'd like to make another copy before it gets worse. How can i make this copy such that it's also bootable? once i tried making a regular nero image of the cd, then burning it off my hdd....but the cd wasn't bootable (i'm assuming because the boot sector didnt' get copied). would i have to burn cd-to-cd? i'm afraid of buffer underruns, so is there any other solution?

thx in advance

Just start NERO & use CD copy, now choose the target & source as your Burner, this will make nero read the cd, then it will prompt you to insert a blank cd.

after that you're done.

Do that. It's the easiest, simplest, most straight forward method of achieving what you want. There are many ways to "create a boot disk CD". I've went through 4 blank CDs before getting it right... If all you want is a better copy of your CD, just do a CD-to-CD copy. That should get you set just fine. If that doesn't work though, follow the instructions to making a bootable CD on Bart's page listed in this thread already. It's relatively simple. All it does is use the files from a boot disk to make the CD bootable, and kind of "pretend to be a floppy", and you stick the rest of your data on your CD, and if you have cdrom drivers on your boot disk part, then you're all set.

Copying to the HD first shouldn't make any difference if you are using a "disk copy" program.

I use Adaptec's EZ CD Creator 4 and have no problem with making an exact copy (using CD Copier) by copying to the HD. However, if you want to copy disk-to-disk, make sure ALL other applications (except Explorer, Systray and CD Copier) are shut down. No screen savers and don't touch the mouse or keyboard until it's finished.

Clean your CD well before copying and also, make sure your BIOS is set to boot from the CD first when testing it.
