Hi all,

I have nero 5.5 and trying to burn a file/folder that's 1GB. I was told NERO can do it by burning it onto multiple CDRs. Anyone know how?

TIA

hmm, if nero can't do it. Is there another software that can automatically span the files/folders into multiple CDRs? Thanks again.

I'm sure Nero can do this, sounds simple. Peck around in the help. Let us know. :)

Edit: Have you tried starting the burn and seeing what Nero says? It might tell you what to do or just flat out do it.

yeah, did that already. Nero says it won't fit on a cdr.

Then maybe you should use a backup program to create backup files less than 700 mb that span the file. I think maybe Winzip can do this. Or Ghost, but Ghost wants to backup whole partitions.

WinZip® makes it easy to create Zip files that ?span? multiple disks. This is useful if the files you are working with will not fit on one disk.

To make a Zip file that spans multiple disks, simply create a Zip file on a removable disk, then add files to the Zip as you normally would. If the disk fills during Add operation, you will be prompted for another disk. Simply insert the next disk and click the OK button.
Important: disk spanning is not available when adding files to an existing archive; it is only available while creating a new archive. Also note that you cannot add or remove files from a Zip file that spans disks. WinZip requires pre-formatted disks (you can format disks using My Computer or Windows Explorer).

Example:
To zip the files in your c:\data folder to a Zip file called A:\DATA.ZIP:

1. Start WinZip.
2. Drag and drop the c:\data folder from My Computer or Windows Explorer to the WinZip window.
3. In the Add dialog box, type the filename of the Zip file (A:\DATA.ZIP).
4. Click the Add button.

If more than one disk is needed, you will be prompted for additional disks.

I don't know if that will work with CDRs. Maybe packet written CDRWs, I'd think.

You cannot carry out disk Spanning using Nero 5.5. You can however Disk Span with Nero 6's Backup Utility apparently. Here you go. ;)

cool, thanks all for the help. I'll try winrar (similar to winzip) first. If that don't work, I'll get nero 6.0 Ultra.

Thanks again.

Is Nero 6 a free upgrade if you have Nero 5.5? I read some posts by people who had major problems in August with Nero 6 and couldn't even go back to 5, so I'm hesitant in any case.
