How To: Building a BlueSniper Rifle

Well..

I was thinking about it.. Way to keep it looking legit.. Instead of making it look like a sniper rifle make it look like a camera with a large lense on it

It sounds pretty cool but making it look like a rifle can scare people and not to mention if you are on top of a roof with it might bring attention from the police.

They should make it look less than a gun to be more covert.

Maybe they could add a small fake dish behind it and make it look more like a satellite receiver. This way if a cop stops you it's an old satellite phone that you picked up on ebay.

That's pretty good. They were able to detect BT from over 1/2 mile away in their tests. Most devices are only good for 33 feet from the spec. I guess they wouldn't do so well if it weren't for the fact the devices were in a high-rise??

Officer: Hey Freeze
Bluetooth Person: what's going officer?
Officer: Got a call there is a sniper on the roof.
B.P.: No sir no sniper here.
Officer: Then what is that in your hand.
B.P.: Oh this is a weather satellite system to measure the atmosphere to see when it will rain again.
Officer: oh...????? very well then carry on.

Fixed.

Yeah, it's very cool (I remember it from reports from defcon last year), but the rifle-style form factor is asking for problems.

That's cool looking. But they only said they could see the MAc addresses, not that they could get into them and see data or anything. Wonder what all you could really do...

That's part 2 of the article to be released at some point. Using sniffers to actually see what is being transmitted.

read the conclusion:
John Hering says, "Our goal is to make the public more aware of wireless security issues and bad policies. Bluetooth is wide open and most people have no idea what can be done to their devices."

I saw one of those at Defcon... old news.

That's what the article said, that this version is new and improved without bubblegum and twist ties holding together.

Wow. They put together a high gain antenna. Unheard of.

Part 2 will talk about a bunch of "hacks" which are likely the Bluetooth equivalent of not turning on security on your WiFi router.
