How to build you own cruise missle!!!

If he can build one for 5k why do ours cost 1,000,000? I think we are getting ripped off.
(yeah yeah i know ours are better, but 200 times better?)

Exactly.

Your tax dollars at work.

I had a friend who was in supply when I was in the Corps. I went to supply with him once and looked at the crap there and what it cost, what a RIP OFF. Some of that stuff was worse than what you could buy intown but cost 10X or more what it was out there.

One example. Nylock nuts. @ around $5.00 each, in town maybe a quarter. I kid you not!

That's silly but if they're overpaying to US companies it's not like they're totally throwing the money away 🙂

Because all that nifty information and data incorporated into products he is merely buying off the shelf or gleening from websites was developed by someone else.

Plus, his is a labor of love, not of profit. As with any respectable hobby, this has cost him quite a bit and he hasn't made a nickel from it. Raytheon has a lot of people who come to work expecting a paycheck, for some odd reason. I'm sure you've encountered a few of these strange people, yourself. 😀

There are lots of amateur rocketeers in the US that have taken 'model rocketry' to a new art and science. Custom fabbed everything with 100,000ft altitudes.

You know its only going to take one incident of a lame-brained zealot to try and lob a home-made missile into the White House or something and then this fabled boyhood hobby with a great history (of which they have made movies) will suddenly become a felony.

They've already done it with 'explosive devices', which we used to have great fun with as kids. Had I grown up in the 90s, I'd be a felon 100 x over.

It can be done, but knowing which parts to buy isn't the big deal. Having him integrate it all into a usable cruise missile is. The programming that goes into the onboard flight control and the interfacing of all these parts is the big deal. Also the purpose of a cruise missile is accuracy, let's see how accurate he can get with it.
I don't like how he is touting it like these things shouldn't be able to be bought in the free market in the US. A gps system, radio controls, an onboard computer? C'mon. I honestly have most of this stuff sitting in my closet, mainly to build a robot which I have been working on.

found the casio in the dumpster, stole the ducky from some dude named "Jimbo" on the corner, and got a pricematch from MACY's to some nowhere store with a 150% PM policy, got a cuopon and rebate, and got it all for around 1.99 out the door, along with a 35 dollar mail in rebate 😛 I OWN 😛
