How to break a Nalgene bottle?

Well, my friends and I found an old Nalgene bottle sitting around, and, being the pranksters we are, decided we should try to break it. Someone bet me $5 that I couldn't break it. I've already run it over with my car, but that only warped it. I was thinking I would need to exert more force over a smaller surface area, like jab it with a stick or a high heeled shoe, etc.

Any ideas?

My buddy managed to crack his. He filled it with water then just dropped it off the roof of one of the University buildings. Not sure how high the roof was though...

<-- had to look it up.

Try freezing it first. Consider dry ice for this purpose, as it's easier to get ahold of than liquid Nitrogen.

fill it full to the brim and freeze it? Water expands as it turns to ice.

Top would probably just pop off. I'd try freezing it with dry ice and smacking it with something, I don't think it would work, but never tried.

Heat it up, enough to harden the plastic but not hot enough to melt it.

That should break it's molecular structure and then it should crack..

wtf, can't you just take a hammer, axe, pick, or sledgehammer and hit it? unless of course you're a pansy.

mix dry ice with water and mix it the gas should expand quickly enough to pop the bottle, depending how much dry ice you put in it.

You can just freeze the bottle...you don't need to fill it with anything.

When mine get all old and beat up from mingling in my trunk with my bat, cleats, and golf clubs, I just freeze it. Then, I take it outside on the sidewalk and break it. Send in the pieces for a free bottle. :)

What kind of bottle is it? Polyethylene (white) or Lexan (grey)?
Lexan is what they make bullet proof glass out of and is virtually unbreakable, so if this is what you have good luck in breaking it.

Drinking out of one right now... I knew they were tough, but damn that's gonna be hard to crack.

I'd say take it to the tallest building on campus and drop it onto the sidewalk.
