How to boot win2k server w/o keyboard?

Hi Y'all,

I was wondering how I could get my server to boot without having a keyboard installed. I believe this is supported by win2k server, but my bios won't let me boot without a keyboard and mouse attached. I am running an AOPEN AX6BC mobo with award bios. Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks,
D

I believe thats the only way, through the Bios. It's not Windows stopping you, but the Bios. I ran my server for months with only a power and Network cable hooked to it and I used PCAnywhere for administration.

Are you positive you can not change the "Hold on Errors" section in the bios?

Yeah , there is MUST be some setting that tells like "Check for keyboard" ... I remember seeing it in some part of my BIOS.

Yeah, there should be a setting that says "Halt on Errors" (or something similiar), to which there is usually an option you can set to "All but Keyboard". I think it's under the general setting menu for Award BIOS's, but I'm not positive.

Why not boot the server, login, then unplug the keyboard and mouse?
Heck if you want once you login-remove the monitor also. (i know a few people who do this)

Seems the easiest solution...

As far as I know, this is not supported in Win2000 server. It is exactly why the server versions of Whistler will support "headless operation" No mouse, keyboard, or monitor needed. Just a network connection.
