How to Boot into Safe Mode on a Mac OS X

Mac is amongst the second largest and most widely used desktop OS within the market of Operating Systems. Talking about the Safe Mode, it is a troubleshooting tool that can be used to identify the reasons as to why your computer is not booting. When it comes to safe mode in Mac, the process of booting is pretty straightforward to follow. Here's how it can be done.

Step 1
'Switch Off' the Computer

To initiate the safe mode, you need to switch off your computer.

Turn It ‘On’

Now turn on your computer.

Hold the ‘Shift’ Button

As soon as you power up the computer, you need to press and hold the Shift button until you see the login window. When the computer displays the login screen, you may release the 'Shift' button.

'Log In' Screen is Visible

You can now see the login screen.

Get to Know About the 'Safe Boot'

You can see that your computer is in safe mode by looking at the words ‘Safe Boot’ displayed at the top right-hand corner of the screen.

'Log In'

Now 'Log In'. If the issue doesn't reoccur while starting the computer, then there's no need to press any key. If the issue reoccurs after rebooting the computer, then it may be because of the incompatible login items. These issues can be fixed while in safe mode.

Exit 'Safe Mode'

You need to simply restart the computer or shutdown to exit the safe mode.
