How to boost weak wireless signal

I can get a very weak wireless signal from the tall building that I can see from my back porch. Is there any product that I could buy that might help me strengthen the wireless signal? At the moment, it is 1-2 bars out of 5 and I get lots of dropped packets.

You could get a directional antenna. Or the best bet would be a router with a directional antenna and then configure that to be a workgroup bridge then just plug into the ethernet port on it.

Any suggestions on a directional antenna? I have absolutely no experience with such things. Do you have a suggestion of a model router to use with a directional antenna?
