one of the computer in my office network keep sending message to me thus disturbing me.. i want to block him from sending message to me using the 'net send' command, but i still want to send and receive message to/from other user..

are there any way to block that computer only besides stopping the "Messenger" service? thanks in advance for your help..

do you need to receive messages from anyone else? i always just disable my messenger service so no one can net send me.

start >> run >> services.msc >> right click on the messenger service and set it to disable

Yes the OP needs to receive messages from other users.

Go over to the guy's cube and punch his face oughta do it.
Or, if you wanna go w/ a more civilized way, ask the system admin to disable messenger service on that person's PC.

get a S/W firewall, dissallow stuff from his IP

Talking to the net admin is also a good route to go.

i'm trying to minimize this issue.. don't want to let anyone else know that..

btw, i tried using arp.exe to block that pc.. it block the ip from that pc.. i.e. can't ping anymore.. but the 'net send' still can go through.. i think net send is using netbios name.. even using software firewall it still can go through.. anyone have any idea?

i have the following protocol installed on my network properties:

NWLink NetBIOS
NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatile Transport Protocol
TCP/IP

services :

Client for Microsoft Networks
File and printer sharing for microsoft networks
Qos Packet Scheduler

i already block the ip using arp command and personal firewall.. i cannot ping or connect to that pc anymore.. but "net send" still can go through...

well that's because all those other protocols are loaded.

if that's the case either stop you messenger service or talk to the dude. not much else you can do .

is that NWLink NetBIOS cause the problem? or the services? :)
