How to best go about getting Disneyland tickets?

I'm planning at trip for my gf and some friends down to Disneyland for a day: what is the best (cheapest) way to go about hotel reservations and park tickets? I can get plane tickets and hotel reservations from Priceline, but I'm most concerned about the park tickets. Should I just buy tickets at the door, or is there a better way (package deal, multiple order, etc)? Also, I guess now there is also a California Adventure park that you have to pay separate admission to.... (been a while)

If you had a particularly great experience travelling, staying at a hotel, or going to Disneyland, I'd like to hear about that too =)

no idea where you can get discount tickets, but as a season pass holder, I will say that DCA is HIGHLY, HIGHLY underrated (assuming you don't have kids).

If you want to see WORLD OF COLOR, do research as lines/wait is currently TERRIBLE

Disney, epcot and all the other parks are awesome, I have been there 50+ times. About 1/2 my extended family works there.

Yea it seems like getting tickets off the Disneyland website is the best way to go. I know sometimes Disneyland runs promotions, but it seems like they're not as of now.

I actually would love to see World of Color, but I don't know if I want to pay for DCA just for that one show. Would you recommend DCA over Disneyland, if I were to only go to one park? (we're only going to be there for one day anyways)

Personally yes. When I go to DL, I head straight to Space Mountain, grab a fastpass, then head to main street, grab some grub, then head to DCA to have fun. Come back in like 6 hours to hit up Space Mountain/fireworks then head out.

@ DCA they have the (only) looping coaster at the park, Toy Story ride (Which is WAAAAAY better than the one in DL), and ALCOHOL.

I mean personally there aren't any rides or anything @ DL which are compelling to me, except space mountain/finding nemo (the first time), so I just end up walking around the whole time and eating

DCA has a MUCH more adult vibe to it, which means less annoying ass kids/strollers to bump into you. Did I mention you can walk around with beer?

that said....

Depending on your interests/rides you want to go on, you might find that there is not as much to do in DCA compared to DL. If you're looking for a more relaxed, "chill" vibe, then DCA > DL by far.

Park hopper tickets aren't very expensive. They let you visit both parks on the same day.

Most of the deals are for multiple day stays. If you only plan on visiting the park for 1 day there isn't much of a discount available.

Yup, I was just gonna mention that. Did my day back in March with my friend and it just so happens that I was in vacation in Florida the week after and was able to use the free tickets.

We actually got the deal of the century. My wife, two kids and I all did a day of service (don't even ask me what we did... it literally took 10 mins to do and I felt so bad we signed up for another day somewhere else outside of the program).

Regardles, so we all 4 had free tickets, get to California (was Disneyland this time around) and realized we forgot the kids birth certs. So I explain it at the gate, lady calls her supervisor over... My wife and I get our free tickets, pay $50 for the park hoppers and they give my 2 kids COMP tickets PLUS park hoppers. 4 people in BOTH gates for $100!!!

30 yrs ago; we got tickets to Disneyland via AAA in Anahiem at 10% off. Also, because we had a CA license at the time; there was an additional 10% discount for being from SoCAL (San Diego). Paying cash for a hotel in Disneyland also netted us a 15% discount.

I stayed at a Marriott resort the time I was down in FL. They were trying to sell their timeshares and one of the incentive to going to their presentation was you can buy two tickets for $150 and can access two-three theme parks. My GF and I had some time to kill in the morning, Free breakfast and spent 2 hours listening to some guy.

So it's only 25 bucks to add the Park Hopper to your free ticket? Hmmm. We have free tickets from our volunteer opportunity and haven't used them yet... I did want to pop into DCA to watch World of Color and the Pixar themed rides...

I dont recall the actual price... that's just what they charged us. I know that it wasn't as expensive as a park hopper in CA as it was in FL though.
