How to beat back baldness

so i've noticed i'm a little thinner on top than normal. I'm only 22 - and well it runs in the family. anyways - was going to try Rogain - but damn $25/mo?

What have the people of ATOT tried and been successful with? Figure might as well try fighting early rather than waiting for it to get worse...

I see the laser comb... but $500? Ouch! What competitors does rogaine have? do they work?

Why are guys so obsessive about this? If I realized I was going bald I'd just accept it and be bald.

same here man, except I'm 17 and my hair has been thinning a bit since 16. Genetics suck, I have nice thick curly hair from my mom's side of the family but the baldness from my dad's side is going to put an end to that in a few years.

You can go to Walmart and get their own brand. It is 3 bottles and cost about $25. Each bottle lasts a month, but even Rogain its 2 months worth in the package.

You will notice an improvement in about 6 months. I use rogain and also propecia. My hair is much thicker and fuller.

First of all, you can buy Kirkland brand minoxidil 5% (Rogaine) for $25 for a 4 month supply online here

The other two treatments that are part of what people consider the "big 3" in preventing baldness are propecia and nizoral 2%, a shampoo.

You can find tons more info about hairloss treatments and people's reports as to their effectiveness here:

I think he means beat it back, as in fight back, or prevent it from getting any worse.

I don't see how Nizoral can help in baldness...
Been working in a pharmacy and never heard of it doing such.
For anyone with dandruff, sure I recommend it.

I don't remember all the details, but you're probably aware that some testosterone gets converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is one of the primary known causes of MPB. Ketoconazole, the main active ingredient in Nizoral, is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor which helps prevent that DHT conversion.

I have read a few studies that do show more than anecdotal evidence that Nizoral at least helps slow hairloss by reducing the amount of DHT in/on the scalp.
