I have windows 2000 and have no idea how to backup in case of drive failure. I have no cdrw and no dvdrw. What do I need to do to backup my drive? thanks.

A lot of floppy discs

or

another hard drive thats larger than the amount of data on your drive and use Symantec Ghost 7.0 or above.

Or, if you don't want to pay for Ghost, boot off of a Linux live cd and use the "dd" command to directly copy the contents of the drive.

If you are just looking to backup select data (and not all the extra crap on the drive you would have by simply rebuilding anyway) then just use ntbackup (built-in) or another backup utility (if you want to buy one) to backup the data you want to save to file.

Then you can just offload the file to some type of usb/firewire drive, or store it on a 2nd disk if you have one available.

Ghost and another HD would probably be the easiest. You can get the entire Norton SystemWorks Pro CD for $9.00

I use Ghost to backup my boot drive to a second HD and a batch file with a series of XCOPY commands to backup everything else to the second HD.
