i m trying to install a registry patch on my computer and before doing that i want to backup my current registry .how do i do that
thanks guys

if i'm not mistaken...system.dat and user.dat from your windows directory...
correct me if i'm wrong ...🙂

Start ==> Run ==> Regedit then click on My Computer then Go to Registry then choose Export Registry file.

Run

C:\WINDOWS\SCANREGW.EXE

Save the Reg.

Make a copy of two files

C:\windows\SYSTEM.DAT & C:\WINDOWS\USER.DAT

Name the copy SYSTEM.DA1 and USER.DA1

If you need to use the Backup rename it to SYSTEM.DAT & USER.DAT

Take into consideration that any changes that you made in your system after the backup was done will not be in the backup flies.
