How to avoid sore throat and cough?

I hate having a sore throat, and coughing up a storm. That dry cough is the worst thing ever. What precautions can I take to avoid that, or is it just an unavoidable thing? How come singers never get a sore throat?

Wash your hands regularly.

What makes you think that singers never get sore thoarts?

Are you kidding? They get them all the time. I think half the time concerts are cancelled are due to this.

But a sore throat and cough are due to infections. Keep up your immune system (vitamin c is good for this_, wash your hands often throughout the day, and at the very tickling you get, start chewing some zinc lozanges.

I have a sore throat right now due to a sinus infection - what fun. For most sore throats, gargling with warm salt water helps a bunch. Sucking on Halls cough drops helps a bit too. On the plus side you can make yourself feel much worse than you really do and stay home from work while getting paid for it. 🙂

<------ eat some soup

Seriously, I'm just getting over one right now <cough> <hack> <clearing throat>.

I just wanted to share (my germs).

In addition to the methods above, you should make sure to wash your hands a lot, like obsessive compulsive. When you are out shopping or in public don't touch your hands to your eyes/ears/nose/mouth unless you've just washed 'em.

Don't share eating/drinking stuff w/ friends/family.

Lots of hygene stuff like that. Even then you can and will still catch a cold, but, if you are at least moderately careful / practical it should reduce your exposure quite a bit.

I suggest a surgical mask/filter though, wearing them out in public is good protection. Mostly because people will think you have some horrible disease and will stay away from you... well, that's been my position whenever I see someone wearing a mask in public. Heh, that's quite serious, but, on a side-note, I wonder if you ever went somewhere where there was a huge line and you put on a mouth-filter and started coughing/weezing a lot if people would scatter. Then you could get to the front of the line quicker. I'm too nice to try that, but, I bet it would make for an interesting sketch in a practical-jokes type show.

Illness come from SIN!

God tells me you've been too greedy!

Give me all your worldly possessions and ye shall be HEALED!
