i just built a couple athlon xp systems and the fans i got are loud as hell so im thinking of replacing them with quieter 80 mm fans. i think i read a while ago that i can use a clip to stick a 80mm fan onto the heatsink. anyone know where i can get one of these clips or any other method of putting the fan on the heatsink? thanks alot

The method you're referring to is usually used with a Thermalright SK6 heatsink. Other heatsinks may hold fans on with clips but I'm not sure which ones. Rather than placing the fan squarely on the heatsink you rotate it so that the 4 corners of the fan sit across the 4 straight edges of the heatsink. Positioned thusly, the clips will hold an 80mm fan.
