My family is searching for a way to obtain copies of a court case that took place in 1957 in Dalhousie, New Brunswick Canada.

It was a murder which resulted in the hanging of Joseph-Perrie Richard. I've search online and have found only minimal information. Info that my family is already aware of.

Anyone have any ideas? I've contacted locale news stations, News papers etc. No responce yet.

Call the courthouse in which the trial was held, or call your Provincial Dept. of Justice. They will be sure to have it.

Got a responce this morning. However, I have a feeling its more for her benifit than for mine. As some mentioned here, it could be as easy as contacting the Justice Dept.

This was the responce I got.

Christina,
My name is Cindy.

I am producing the provincial afternoon show in New Brunswick for the
next couple of days, would love to speak to you
ASAP.
We could perhaps do an interview today that would raise awareness of
this story and perhaps get you some answers.
Please contact me at xxx-xxxx, this morning if possible.
Thanks,
Cindy

I called my dad and told him, he's out or sleeping, so I left a message. I can't make a call on this. He'll have to.

Thanks for your repies so far.

ElFenix - I don't know the name of the case. I was hoping to find it online by searching by name for the fvcker who commited the crime. I wasn't so lucky.

Update: Just spoke with my dad. He's not interested in doing a story. He was only 1yr when all this happened.

The name of the case will probably be "R. vs Richard" If i remember correctly from Law classes, the R stands for Regina, (the queen) meaning that the country of Canada would be the prosecution in the case.

why don't you contact Dalhousie Univ's law school (assuming they have one). I'm sure they'll have info.

FOUND IT!!!!

Spoke with a lady in NB who pulls archive info for lawyers, she wasn't sure at first if she'd be able to find anything. Said it depended on whether or not there was a jury involved. She asked me to call her back in 5 minutes. So I did so...

Turns out there were two trials for this case. In the first the accused was found not guilty due to lack of evidence. Then there was a second trial initiated by the courts when micro fibers were found on his car that matches the 13 year olds sweater that she was wearing.

She's sent me the second transcript, and will send me the first through the mail since its 25 pages and not fax or scanable.

My dad is ecstatic considering... We were joking around when I told him I can find anything on this internet. He told me that it was my project. This was yesterday.

Me - 1

Dad - 0

If anyone is interested in reading the second transcript, let me know.

Thanks for all your help!
