I just ordered a stick of mx2 and I am wonfering what is the best way to apply this stuff onto a core 2 duo processor. I try googling it and there is no instruction for it. I know for Arctic Silver 5, you put it in a straight line across the HSF and let the weight of the heatsink do the trick. But how does MX2 work?

same process, only you want to use a bit more then AS5.

Instead of a thin line, do a medium thin line.

Huh, can someone explain to me what it just wouldn't be better to to but two very thin lines in a plus sign fashion on a quad core instead of 1 thin line going across?

With my Freezer 64 Pro and 65nm 4400+ I just took my MX-2 and spread it thinly onto the whole IHS. At 2.83Ghz its still rocking just fine at 45 load.

I used MX-2 on my HR-05 IFX on the 630a chipset on my board (not easy at all as it wasn't made for it and in the end I do NOT recommend using it with that chipset.. the die is too small..)

However, beforehand it was rebooting randomly. Now at a 260HTT with its integrated graphics core up to 460Mhz from 420Mhz, the heatsink is hardly warm to the touch and no more reboots.

Honestly.. why not just spread out a thin layer with a credit card or toothpick? Certainly worked for me..

I always found that a good way to apply thermal paste is to put a small dab of it in the center and then use a plastic sandwich bag with your finger inside to smooth it out evenly all the way around.

I just used the mx2 and the repaired Arctic Freezer 7 pro and the the temperature from Core Temp is way too high. It show like 52-53 degree during idle. And when I use my Gigabtye's Easy tune's temperature reader, it show degree like 41 and 45 degree. Is there a way for me to use my arctic freezer's fan to max speed because it seems the temperature doesn;t seem all that encouraging.
