That's happened to me already - one of my roommates would make something that smelled absolutely horrible. I don't remember what it was, but it'd wake me up in the middle of the night, and I'd have trouble getting back to sleep again. I'd wind up spraying a little Febreeze around so I'd have something mildly less disgusting to smell.
Before college, I could sleep through smoke alarms going off. In college, sleeping with roommates, anything would wake me up. I'm no good sleeping with another person in the room. I'm always a little on edge then.

Man, if I smelled that at 1 o'clock in the morning, I'd wake up and kiss you. Bratwurst and sauerkraut is so good. MMMMnmmmmmm.

My roommate pissed me the fuck off towards the beginning of the semester. I went to bed relatively early one night (10 PM) because I had a Physics test the next morning at 8. I told him I needed to sleep, and asked him to keep quiet.
At 2 AM I wake up to what I thought at the time was a fucking earthquake; we live in FL, there are no earthquakes. My room is parallel to the stairwell, and right by the front door. Him and 8 other guys, all mutual friends of ours, came stomping up the stairs and I could hear my roommate telling them to keep quiet; as if that would freaking matter once you had a near ton of cock stomping up the stairs. As soon as they walked in I got out of bed and started yelling and screaming, to which I got the answer "I never bring people over anyways." Needless to say, that pissed me the hell off, and I blew up, "DON'T BRING PEOPLE OVER AT 2 FUCKING AM."
I've been trying to figure out how to get back at him all semester (I fell asleep towards the end of the test, I couldn't fall back asleep after they woke me up for hours), and finally did on Friday, inadvertently too... He came home to study for a bio exam (unknown to me), and there were 4 of us playing GRAW2 and being loud as hell, then he just left. We were all, we thought he left. About 2 hours later we left to get some McDonald's and saw him sitting in the stairwell with some bio notes; I had to try so hard to keep myself from busting out laughing.

May help your cause if you asked people things instead of telling them. If someone told me to 'keep quiet' because THEY has something THEY needed to do...I'd make as much racket as possible. Now if they said 'hey I have a test tomorrow and I have to get up early, I don't want to be a pain, but can you try not to wake me?'
If someone isn't considerate though all bets are off.
